You've been eyeing that new TV and air fryer for weeks. And now that the Great Indian Festival is live, Amazon says you can get a 10% instant discount with SBI cards. The question is whether your card qualifies and how much of that 10% you'll actually see.

Amazon's partner bank for the main sale this year is SBI. The 10% instant discount works on most SBI credit cards, on SBI credit card EMI and, according to Amazon, on SBI debit cards too. But it comes with a cap per order, a cap per card, and a list of SBI cards that don't qualify at all, including the popular Cashback SBI Card.

This article covers who gets the discount, how much you can really save, and when you're better off paying with the Amazon Pay ICICI card instead.

TL;DR

  • The 10% instant discount is on SBI cards from 8 to 20 October 2026. Minimum order: ₹4,990 for mobiles and ₹2,490 for everything else.
  • It's capped. The most you'll get off one order is ₹750 to ₹1,750, depending on the date, the category and whether you pay in full or on EMI.
  • The Cashback SBI Card, Flipkart SBI, Paytm SBI and corporate cards are excluded. RuPay SBI credit card payments made through UPI are excluded as well.
  • SBI takes back the reward points you earn on orders that get the discount.
  • For an order above roughly ₹25,000 paid in full, the Amazon Pay ICICI card's 5% (for Prime members) can beat SBI's base discount. On EMI, SBI wins, because the ICICI card earns nothing on EMI.

Who's the bank partner for Great Indian Festival 2026?

SBI is the partner bank for Great Indian Festival 2026. Amazon's own sale announcement lists a "10% instant discount on SBI Credit and Debit Cards and Credit Card EMI" as the bank offer.

The main sale opened to everyone at 12 am on 8 October 2026 (with the Prime early-access window opening on 7 October). SBI Card's offer runs from 12 am on 8 October to 11:59 pm on 20 October 2026, so you have 13 days.

Early Deals started on 25 September. SBI ran a separate version of the offer from 25 September to 7 October, with similar per-order caps and a lower ₹13,750 total cap per card.

SBI 10% offer: the caps you must know

The 10% is calculated on the order value, including taxes, but each order is capped. Here's how the caps work on SBI credit cards:

On top of the base discount, SBI runs bonus discounts on select products. They start at an extra ₹250 on a single order of ₹14,990 or more and climb to ₹3,000 on large EMI orders of ₹99,990 or more. The full bonus ladder is different for full payment and EMI, and not every product qualifies, so check the "Bank Offer" box on the product page.

How often can you use it? The base offer refreshes on 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 October, so one card can use it up to eight times during the sale. Per refresh, the base discount is capped at ₹1,750 (8–11 Oct) or ₹1,500 (12–20 Oct). Bonus discounts are capped at ₹31,250 per card, and the overall maximum per card, counting base, bonus and every refresh, is ₹44,250.

In practice, you'll hit the per-order cap long before ₹44,250, especially on expensive items. News18 found the SBI discount on one ₹44,999 phone capped at ₹1,250, well short of the ₹4,500 that 10% would suggest.

💡 Compare before you check out: the SBI discount is just one of the offers running this week. Monzy's credit card offers tool lists live bank deals in one place, so you can see whether another card in your wallet does better on the same order.

Which SBI cards don't get the discount?

SBI's terms cover all SBI and Tata credit cards except:

  • Corporate SBI cards
  • Cashback SBI Card
  • Paytm SBI credit cards
  • Flipkart SBI credit cards
  • RuPay SBI credit card payments made through UPI (pay with the card itself instead)

That Cashback SBI exclusion catches a lot of people every year. If it's your main online card, you'll need to choose between the 10% discount on another SBI card and the Cashback card's regular cashback. Our coverage of the Cashback SBI devaluation explains what that card still earns.

Cards like the SimplyCLICK SBI Card and the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card are covered. The full lineup is on our SBI credit cards page.

SBI debit cards: Amazon says the 10% applies to SBI debit cards too. But the caps we've verified are from SBI Card's credit card terms, and we couldn't find official debit card caps. Check the product page's offer box before you pay with a debit card.

What the offer doesn't cover

The discount won't apply to:

  • Gift cards, Amazon Pay balance top-ups and the Prime subscription
  • Prepaid recharges, bill payments, digital gold and Kindle
  • Flights, buses, trains, movies and insurance
  • Infant nutrition, installation orders and some mobiles, TVs and electronics (the product page highlights what's not included)
  • Card on Delivery and down-payment EMI orders

It does work on regular EMI, No Cost EMI, and exchange orders. On an exchange, the amount you pay by card after the exchange value must still meet the minimum order (₹4,990 for mobiles, ₹2,490 for everything else).

⚠️ Watch out:1. Reward points are clawed back. SBI takes back the points earned on orders that got the discount, within 120 days of the end of the offer month. If your points balance is too low, SBI charges the equivalent amount to your card.2. Returns don't refund the discount. If you return or cancel, you get back only what you actually paid.3. Multi-item orders: the discount may be split unevenly across items, but the total won't go above your cap.

SBI 10% vs Amazon Pay ICICI 5%: which card should you use?

The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card pays unlimited 5% back for Prime members and 3% for non-Prime members on Amazon.in. The card is lifetime free.

The catch: the cashback lands as Amazon Pay balance at the end of your billing cycle, not as an instant discount. And it earns nothing on EMI purchases or gold. You also can't use both the SBI and Amazon Pay ICICI offers on one order because you pay with one card.

Let's take the non-mobile cap for full payment from 12 to 20 October, ₹1,250:

Order value (non-mobile, paid in full, 12–20 Oct)

SBI 10% (capped, before bonuses)

Amazon Pay ICICI, Prime (5%)

Amazon Pay ICICI, non-Prime (3%)

₹5,000

₹1,250

₹2,000

₹1,200

₹60,000

₹1,250

₹3,000

₹1,800

So, as a rough rule:

  • Below about ₹25,000 (non-mobile, paid in full), use your SBI card. The instant 10% wins.
  • Above about ₹25,000, a Prime member's ICICI 5% usually wins on the base numbers. Without Prime, the breakeven moves up to about ₹41,700. SBI's bonus discounts on select products can push these numbers higher, so add the bonus shown on the product page before you decide.
  • Mobiles from 12 October: the SBI cap drops to ₹750 on full payment, so ICICI's 5% wins on phones above about ₹15,000. The ₹250 SBI bonus on ₹14,990+ orders narrows the gap.
  • Paying on EMI? Use SBI. The EMI caps are higher, and the ICICI card earns nothing on EMI.

Don't forget the reward-point clawback. If your SBI card normally earns accelerated points on Amazon, subtract their value from SBI's 10%.

Other offers that stack in the sale

These are Amazon-side offers. Unlike a second bank offer, they can sit on top of your card's discount:

  • Prime extras: Amazon lists an additional 5% off on a large selection and ₹250 cashback on "lakhs of products" for Prime members. Check each product for eligibility.
  • Coupons: some products, especially smartphones, have a separate coupon on the product page. Tick it before checkout.
  • Exchange and No Cost EMI: both are allowed alongside the SBI offer, as long as the amount you pay after exchange still meets the minimum order.
  • Amazon Pay Later: Amazon advertises 10% cashback on Pay Later EMIs and a "Pay in 3" option (three interest-free EMIs on carts of ₹1,500 or more, no processing fee). Amazon hasn't published a cap for that cashback, so check the terms in the app.

During Early Deals (25 September to 7 October), other banks ran their own Amazon offers. For the main sale from 8 October, SBI is the only bank instant discount Amazon has announced. Keep an eye on our live daily credit card offers for new bank deals during the sale.

How to make sure the discount applies

  1. Open the product page and check the "Bank Offer" section for SBI eligibility, the exact cap and any bonus offer.
  2. Make sure the order value after coupons and exchange is at least ₹4,990 (mobiles) or ₹2,490 (everything else).
  3. At payment, choose your saved SBI credit card. If it's a RuPay card, pay with the card itself, not through UPI.
  4. Confirm the "10% instant discount" line appears in the order summary before you pay. It's an instant discount, so if it doesn't show there, you won't get it later.
  5. For big orders, compare the final price with what the Amazon Pay ICICI card would earn you (see the table above).

So, which card should you use?

If you hold an eligible SBI card and your order is under about ₹25,000, use SBI and take the instant 10%. Try to buy before 12 October, after which the per-order caps fall.

If you're buying something bigger and paying in full, the Amazon Pay ICICI card's uncapped 5% is often worth more, and you keep your SBI reward points. If you're paying on EMI, stick with SBI.

And if you don't hold an SBI card, don't apply for one just for this sale. A new card means a hard enquiry and an annual fee for a discount that's capped at ₹1,750 per order. A lifetime-free card you'll keep using makes more sense. See our list of lifetime free credit cards.

FAQs about Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 bank offers

Which bank gives a 10% instant discount in the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026?

SBI. From 8 to 20 October 2026, eligible SBI credit cards, SBI credit card EMI and SBI debit cards get a 10% instant discount on select products. The minimum order is ₹4,990 for mobiles and ₹2,490 for other categories.

Does the Cashback SBI Card get the Amazon 10% discount?

No. SBI's terms exclude the Cashback SBI Card, along with Flipkart SBI, Paytm SBI and corporate cards, and RuPay credit card payments made through UPI. You can still pay with it, but you won't get the instant discount.

What is the maximum SBI discount on one order?

From 8 to 11 October, the cap is ₹1,000 on mobiles and ₹1,500 on other categories when you pay in full (₹1,250 and ₹1,750 on EMI). From 12 to 20 October, it drops to ₹750 and ₹1,250 for full payment (₹1,000 and ₹1,500 on EMI). Bonus discounts, starting from ₹250, can apply on top for orders of ₹14,990 or more.

How many times can I use the SBI offer during the sale?

The base offer refreshes on 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 October, so one card can use it up to eight times. The overall cap, including base, bonus and refreshes, is ₹44,250 per card.

Does the SBI discount work on EMI and No Cost EMI?

Yes. The offer applies to regular EMI, No Cost EMI and exchange orders, and the EMI caps are higher than the full-payment caps. But down-payment EMI and Card on Delivery orders don't qualify.

Can I combine the SBI discount with Amazon Pay ICICI cashback?

Not really, since you pay with one card. You can still combine either card's benefit with Amazon's coupons, Prime offers and exchange deals where the product allows it.

Will I lose SBI reward points if I use the discount?

Yes. SBI takes back the reward points earned on discounted orders, within 120 days of the end of the offer month. If your points balance is too low, SBI debits the equivalent amount from your card account.

What happens to the discount if I return the product?

You don't get the discount back. SBI and Amazon refund only the amount you actually paid. Queries about the offer are accepted until 21 November 2026.

Where can I check all live credit card offers during the sale?

Monzy's live credit card offers page collects current bank offers in one feed that you can filter by bank and offer type. Check it before a big order to see whether another card you hold beats the SBI discount on the same product.
