Union Bank of India's credit cards are the ones you get offered at the branch, usually while you're there for something else. It has 13 cards that range from a ₹350 Visa to a ₹12,499 metal card. Whether any of them is worth keeping depends on which one you're handed.
Most of Union Bank’s cards pay between 0.5% and 1% back, which is definitely low. Still, the card catalogue is worth a look
This article lists every card, what it costs, what it gives you, and which ones are worth your time. Look at their features, fees and benefits, and find the right card for your financial needs.
Who is Union Bank of India, and Where Does It Stand with the RBI?
Union Bank of India was registered as a limited company on 11 November 1919 in Bombay, with Seth Sitaram Poddar credited as its founding visionary. Its head office is Union Bank Bhavan at Nariman Point, Mumbai.
The Government of India nationalised the bank in 1969 and still holds 74.76% of it. Union grew by taking over Belgaum Bank in 1975 and Sikkim Bank in 1999. On 1 April 2020, Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank merged into it, with Union as the anchor bank.
Union is a scheduled commercial bank regulated by the RBI, listed on the NSE and BSE. It operates about 8,700 domestic branches and 8,800 ATMs, with overseas branches in Dubai and Sydney and a banking subsidiary in London.
As of 30 June 2026, Union's total business was about ₹23.8 lakh crore, made up of roughly ₹12.8 lakh crore in deposits and ₹11.0 lakh crore in advances. Your deposits carry DICGC insurance of up to ₹5 lakh per depositor, which is separate from your credit card.
The card book is small for a bank this big. As of August 2026, Union had about 5.06 lakh credit cards in circulation, claiming a 0.42% share among the credit card issuers in India. That's behind Canara Bank and PNB, the other large public sector banks trying to grow their card business.
On card networks, Union issues on RuPay and Visa. The two premium cards sit on RuPay's top variants: Unicorn (RuPay Select) and Nexteria (metal Ekaa variant).

Our guide to the best super-premium credit cards in India shows how Nexteria compares with cards from the bigger private banks.
Apart from those credit cards, Union Bank of India offers the Sparsh card (₹550 fee) for visually impaired customers. It has a tactile notch opposite the chip and "UBI" embossed in Braille. Then, a PM Svanidhi card is available for street vendors under the government's Svanidhi scheme.

Best Union Bank of India Credit Cards to Pick
If you want your first credit card, apply for RuPay Platinum. It links to UPI, and the ₹350 fee is waived once you spend ₹30,000 in a year. The only caveat is that it earns only 0.5%.
If you pay for most things by QR, go for RuPay Select. It earns 1% back on card spends and comes with 8 domestic lounge visits a year. The ₹550 fee is waived at ₹50,000 of spend.
If you'd rather not pay any fee, see thebest lifetime free credit cards. And if your CIBIL score is under 700, apply for a card against a term deposit. Our guide to deposit-linked credit cards compares the best ones in India.
For regular doctor visits or check-ups, check Union JCB Health. For ₹499, you get two free teleconsultations a year, a diagnostic package, a dietician session, and the lounge visits. The card itself earns only 0.5%, though, so you're paying for the services, not the rewards.
Union Unicorn RuPay is a good card if you want to spend steadily on one card and rake up points. The annual fee is waived at ₹3 lakh spend, and you'd earn 12,000 base points plus 6,000 milestone points. Those 18,000 points are worth about ₹4,500 (at ₹0.25 each), or roughly 1.5%. But the card is available only to existing Union customers, earning at least ₹5 lakh a year.
You travel with family and want airport lounge access? Check NEXTERIA. Unlimited lounge access, two family visits a quarter and the ITC hotel perks are what the ₹12,499 pays for. The fee is waived only after ₹8 lakh of spend a year, so factor that in.
Check our guide tocredit card lounge accessto understand how those lounge visits work at the airport.
Across the range, 0.5% to 1% is a low reward rate, and the cards carry a 3% forex markup. So most Union cards work best next to a stronger rewards card from another bank. Our list of the best RuPay credit cards in India is a good place to find the second one.
Recent Union Bank of India Credit Card News and Launches
Union has launched three cards since November 2025, all aimed at the top end of its range.
The Unicorn RuPay Credit Card was announced on 15 November 2025. NEXTERIA, Union Bank’s first metal credit card, was launched in early December 2025. And in March 2026, Union unveiled the DIVAA ICON Credit Card, its women-focused card.
We didn't find any Union reward cuts, lounge changes or fee hikes in 2026. That's a contrast with the many Indian cards devalued in 2026. However, with rewards this modest, there isn't much left to cut.

NEXTERIA does. The cardholder gets unlimited domestic and international lounge access, and family gets two visits a quarter, each covering you plus three guests. Conclusion
