Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) has nine credit cards for individuals. Six are its own Visa cards, and three are co-branded with SBI. Check what each one costs, what it pays back, its fee waiver terms, and which one is worth applying for.

Unlike credit cards offered by major banks in India, KVB credit cards have a relatively lower market presence. Still, you can find a card that aligns with your financial needs and spending habits.

Who Is Karur Vysya Bank, and Where Does It Stand with the RBI?

Karur Vysya Bank is a private sector bank set up by M A Venkatarama Chettiar and Athi Krishna Chettiar in 1916 in Karur, Tamil Nadu. It began with ₹1 lakh of capital to lend to traders and farmers around Karur, and its registered and central office is still on Erode Road in Karur.

The bank is a scheduled commercial bank regulated by the RBI, and it's listed on the NSE and the BSE. As of 31 March 2026, it reported total business of ₹2,14,420 crore, made up of ₹1,15,666 crore of deposits and ₹98,754 crore of advances. It earned a net profit of ₹2,510 crore in FY26. It runs around 900 branches and over 2,200 ATMs and cash recyclers.

Your deposits with KVB carry DICGC insurance of up to ₹5 lakh per depositor. That cover, though, is about deposits and has nothing to do with your credit card.

Credit cards are a very small part of this bank. Per RBI's August 2026 data, KVB has only 8,462 cards, with a 0.01% share among all cards by credit card issuers in India. However, cardholders use them regularly, spending about ₹32,517 in a month; the second highest of any issuer in India.

KVB's own cards all run on Visa. It also has co-branded cards running with SBI Card, as per its own network preferences.

The fee waiver terms for Eternis, Altura, Samara and Aura are unusual. If you spend 200% of your credit limit in the first year, you get the second-year fee back as gift vouchers (not as a waiver on your bill).

KVB also issues a Corporate Credit Card for promoters and employees of business entities, at ₹1,000 a year with the first year free. But it isn’t available for individual users.

KVB SBI Gold, Platinum and Signature cards are issued by SBI Card in association with KVB, and their terms are governed by SBI Card. Verify all details with your bank before applying. SBI Card’s site also lists KVB SBI Card ELITE at ₹4,999 a year, but no details are available on KVB’s site.

Accelerated rates usually depend on the merchant's category code. Check a shop with the Monzy MCC scanner before you count on a 5X or 8X rate.

Best Karur Vysya Bank Credit Cards to Pick

You shop, eat out and see movies regularly? Go for KVB SBI Gold. It pays roughly 2.5% back at dining, movies, departmental stores and groceries, and the ₹499 fee is waived once you spend ₹1 lakh a year, about ₹8,300 a month.

If you eat out often and fly a few times a year, check KVB SBI Platinum. It gives roughly 2.5% back on dining, grocery, departmental stores and foreign spends, with lounge access through Visa and Priority Pass. Priority Pass visits are chargeable, though, and only 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter are free.

You already bank with KVB and want one lounge card for a small fee? KVB Honour. It costs ₹999 a year, waived at ₹3 lakh of spends, and lists 4 domestic lounge visits.

If you’re a heavy spender who flies now and then, KVB SBI Signature it is. It gives roughly 2.5% back on dining, grocery, departmental stores and foreign spends, plus lounge access. The milestone points, worth up to ₹12,500, arrive only if you spend ₹3 lakh or more in a year.

You spend a lot on flights and hotels abroad and don't want to pay any forex markup: KVB Altura. It pays roughly 5% back on those spends, with a 7,500-point welcome bonus. But it launched for existing KVB customers first and has no listed lounge benefits. Check our list of the best travel credit cards in India if you want alternatives.

Recent Karur Vysya Bank Credit Card News and Launches

On 29 May 2026, KVB launched a premium Visa card portfolio: Eternis and Altura on Visa Infinite, Samara on Visa Signature and Aura on Visa Platinum. The rollout started with existing customers, who can check pre-approved offers in the KVB DLite app or at a branch.

We didn't find any KVB fee hikes or reward devaluations in 2026. That's a contrast with the many Indian cards devalued in 2026, though the card book is small and most changes would reach existing customers first.

FAQs about Karur Vysya Bank credit cards

How many credit cards does Karur Vysya Bank have?

KVB has nine credit cards for individuals. Six are its own Visa cards: Platinum, Honour, Aura, Samara, Altura and Eternis. Three are co-branded with SBI Card: Gold, Platinum and Signature. It also issues a corporate card for businesses.

Is Karur Vysya Bank safe, and is it regulated by the RBI?

Yes. KVB is a scheduled commercial bank regulated by the RBI, it's listed on the NSE and BSE, and it has operated since 1916. Your protection as a cardholder comes from RBI rules on unauthorised transactions. The DICGC cover of ₹5 lakh applies to deposits, not to credit card dues.

Are KVB-SBI credit cards issued by KVB or by SBI Card?

By SBI Card. KVB offers the Gold, Platinum and Signature cards in association with SBI Card, so rewards, statements and the app run on SBI Card's systems. Check the fee on SBI Card's own page before you apply.

Can anyone apply for the new KVB Visa credit cards?

Not yet, according to KVB's announcement. Eternis, Altura, Samara and Aura launched on 29 May 2026 for existing KVB customers first, who can see pre-approved offers in the KVB DLite app or at a branch. KVB hasn't said when non-customers can apply.

Is there a lifetime free KVB credit card?

No. The cheapest are the KVB SBI Gold at ₹499 a year and the KVB Platinum at ₹599 a year. Each one has a spend-based waiver, and the fee is reversed at ₹1 lakh of yearly spend.

Which KVB credit card has the best rewards?

Eternis and Altura pay the most, at up to about 6% and 5% back on flights, hotels, dining and luxury shopping, if their 3X and 5X rates are multiples of the base rate. They cost ₹29,999 and ₹14,999 a year plus GST. For a much lower fee, the KVB SBI Platinum gives about 2.5% back on dining, grocery, departmental stores and international spends for ₹2,999 a year.

Which KVB credit card has lounge access?

Three of the nine have confirmed airport lounge access. Honour gives 4 domestic visits a year. KVB lists complimentary Visa lounge access on the KVB SBI Platinum and Signature, and SBI Card's pages put it at 2 domestic visits a quarter on the Platinum and 8 a year on the Signature, capped at 2 a quarter. Lounge access, if any, on Eternis, Altura, Samara or Aura, hasn’t been published.

What is the forex markup on KVB credit cards?

Eternis and Altura charge 0%. Samara and Aura charge 3%, and Platinum and Honour charge 3.5%. These terms can change, though, so check MITC before using them abroad.

Do KVB credit card reward points expire?

Yes. Usually, reward points on Karur Vysya Bank cards lapse once every three years, or if you don't pay the minimum due for more than 60 days. Each redemption costs ₹99, and you need 2,000 points for the first one and 250 for later ones. Always check the card’s specific terms for the lapse rule, or ask the bank, before you stockpile.

What is the interest rate on KVB credit cards?

Platinum and Honour charge 3.25% a month, or 39% a year. Eternis, Altura, Samara and Aura charge 3% a month, or 36% a year. But both rates are on the expensive side, so pay the full bill every month. Interest-free credit runs up to 45 days when you clear the whole amount.

What income do I need for a KVB credit card?

KVB states an income target for its co-brands: ₹4 lakh a year for the KVB SBI Gold and ₹8 lakh for the KVB SBI Platinum and Signature. For its own cards, KVB publishes credit limits instead: ₹25,000 to ₹5 lakh on Platinum, ₹1.5 lakh to ₹10 lakh on Honour and ₹5 lakh to ₹50 lakh on Eternis.

Banks check more than income requirement to determine eligibility. Check our credit card eligibility guide and minimum CIBIL score guide that cover the rest.

Conclusion

Pick the KVB SBI Platinum if you want a card that pays you back on the dining and shopping you already do. Pick Eternis or Altura only if your spending on travel is heavy enough to cover a fee of ₹17,699 or more. Whichever one you choose, check the fee and the waiver spend on the day you apply, and set a reminder so you don't pay a fee you could have avoided.
