IDBI Bank may not have the sprawling credit-card catalogue of India's biggest card issuers, but that doesn't mean it should be overlooked. It has 7 credit cards – five of its own and two LIC co-branded RuPay cards.
IDBI's rewards are modest, between 0.33% and 1.5%, depending on the card and how you spend. All seven cards charge a 3.5% forex markup, and interest runs from 2.5% to 3.4% a month.
What IDBI does well is lounge access.

Who is IDBI Bank, and Where Does It Stand with the RBI?
IDBI Bank began on 1 July 1964 as the Industrial Development Bank of India. It was set up under the IDBI Act as a development finance institution. The RBI recognised it as a scheduled bank in September 2004, and its commercial banking arm merged into it in 2005.
The bank is listed on the NSE and BSE, and Its head office is in Mumbai. As of mid-2025, IDBI Bank operated over 2,100 branches and around 3,000 ATMs across India.
LIC completed the purchase of a 51% controlling stake on 21 January 2019, and the RBI re-categorised IDBI as a private sector bank from that date. That's why you'll see it called a public sector bank on some sites and a private one on others.
As of September 2025, LIC held 49.24%, and the Government of India held 45.48%. Every deposit you keep with IDBI carries DICGC insurance of up to ₹5 lakh per depositor, which is separate from anything to do with your credit card.
The card book is rather small. As of August 2026, IDBI had around 52K credit cards in force, which puts it33rd among the 40 banks, with a 0.04% share. Those cards spent about ₹77.5 crore in the month, or ₹14,909 per card, against an industry average of ₹16,319.
IDBI issues its cards on Visa, Mastercard and RuPay networks. And rewards on these cards come as IDBI Delight Points.

IDBI's line-up runs from free entry-level cards to one premium travel card. Every card has a nil joining fee and charges a 3.5% forex markup.

LIC Lumine Platinum | ₹0 | 3 points per ₹100 | LIC policyholders who want a free card |
LIC Eclat Select | ₹0 | 4 points per ₹100 | LIC policyholders who want better rewards |
₹0 | 3 points per ₹100 | A free everyday card with a lounge visit
₹499 (waived on ₹75K annual spend) | 2 points per ₹150 | Building a credit history with a fixed deposit
Winnings | ₹899 (waived on ₹90K annual spend) | 2 points per ₹100 | Occasional flyers who travel home or abroad |
₹1,499 (waived on ₹1.5L annual spend) | 6 points per ₹100 on travel spends, 3 points elsewhere | Regular travellers who want lounge perks |
Each card comes with its own welcome benefits and milestone benefits, and forex markup is 3.5% on each. Some cards also have a rewards redemption fee.
The Imperium Platinum is a secured card, so you open it against an FD of at least ₹20,000. The credit limit goes up to 85% of the deposit, so a ₹20,000 FD gives you ₹17,000. Cash withdrawal is capped at 70% of that limit.
Every IDBI card leaves some categories out of its points, so check the MITC before you route rent, wallet loads or insurance through the card. Our merchant category code list for India explains how banks classify these spends.
Best IDBI Bank Credit Cards to Pick
If you fly a few times a year, check out the Winnings card. You get 12 lounge visits a year, with 4 of them international, and the ₹899 fee disappears if you spend at least ₹7,500 a month. At ₹20,000 a month, you earn 4,800 points a year (worth about ₹1,200), and you pay no fee. Our guide to credit card lounge access explains how the visits work at the airport.
You book most of your flights, hotels and train tickets via credit card: go for Euphoria World. If we take ₹20,000 a month (annual 2.4 lakh) split evenly between travel and everything else, travel earns 6 points per ₹100, so ₹1.2 lakh a year gives about ₹1,800. The other ₹1.2 lakh gives about ₹900. You spend ₹2.4 lakh, which clears the ₹1.5 lakh waiver, so the ₹1,499 fee doesn't apply.
You want one free card for everyday spends with a lounge visit now and then? Apply for Royale Signature. On ₹15,000 a month, you earn 450 points, about ₹1,350 a year, and you get 4 domestic lounge visits a year. Our list of lifetime free credit cards shows what else costs nothing.
You need to get a secured card? Then, Imperium Platinum it is. A ₹1 lakh FD gives a limit of up to ₹85,000, and regular on-time payments build your credit history. Compare it with the other cards in our list of FD-backed credit cards.
Across the whole range, IDBI's cards return between about 0.33% and 1.5%. That makes an IDBI card a good free lounge card but a weak main card.

Recent IDBI Bank Credit Card News and Launches
On 15 July 2026, Fairfax Financial Holdings was named the winning bidder for 60.72% of IDBI Bank, made up of the government's 30.48% and LIC's 30.24%. The price was ₹81 a share, about ₹53,000 crore. The deal still needs the RBI's fit-and-proper clearance and approval from the Competition Commission of India.
Fairfax also holds about 40% of CSB Bank, and RBI rules don't let one promoter run two banks side by side, so a merger of the two is expected over an extended period.
We found no devaluation, fee increase or lounge cut on any IDBI card in 2026. The latest MITC on IDBI's site carries an effective date of 13 April 2023, which means the fee and interest terms haven't been revised in over three years.
Our list ofIndian credit cards devalued in 2026shows which issuers did change their terms this year.
IDBI's card range has also stayed put. The Winnings launched on 21 June 2017, and the LIC Lumine Platinum and Eclat Select followed in July 2021. No new IDBI card has launched since then.
FAQs about IDBI Bank credit cards
How many credit cards does IDBI Bank offer?
IDBI Bank lists seven credit cards. Five are its own: Aspire Platinum, Imperium Platinum, Royale Signature, Winnings and Euphoria World. The other two are RuPay co-brands with LIC Cards Services: the Lumine Platinum and the Eclat Select.
Which IDBI Bank credit cards are free?
Every IDBI Bank credit card has a nil joining fee. Royale Signature, Aspire Platinum, Lumine Platinum and Eclat Select also have a nil annual fee. Winnings and Euphoria World charge ₹899 and ₹1,499 a year from year two unless you spend more than ₹90,000 and ₹1.5 lakh in the preceding year, and Imperium Platinum charges ₹499 a year from year two unless you spend more than ₹75,000.
Which IDBI Bank credit card has the best lounge access?
IDBI Winnings card has the best lounge access. It gives 2 domestic visits per calendar quarter and 2 international visits per calendar half-year. Euphoria World gives 12 domestic visits a year, and Royale Signature gives 1 domestic visit a quarter.
Does IDBI Bank have a secured credit card against a fixed deposit?
Yes, the Imperium Platinum is issued against your fixed deposit. The minimum FD is ₹20,000, the limit goes up to 85% of the deposit, and the annual fee is ₹499 from year two, waived above ₹75,000 of yearly spend. There's no joining fee, but closing the card within a year of issuance costs ₹999.
What is the forex markup on IDBI Bank credit cards?
IDBI charges a 3.5% cross-currency markup on all its cards, plus GST. On ₹1 lakh of foreign spend, that's ₹3,500 plus GST. None of the seven IDBI cards is a zero-forex card, so pair one with a travel card if you spend abroad often.
What interest and late payment charges does IDBI Bank levy?
Currently, interest is 2.5% a month on the Royale Signature, 2.9% on the Aspire, Imperium and Euphoria World, and 3.4% on the Winnings, Lumine and Eclat. Late payment fees depend on your statement balance: nil up to ₹500, ₹400 up to ₹5,000, ₹500 up to ₹10,000, ₹750 up to ₹20,000 and ₹950 above that. If you pay in full every month and on time, you don’t need to worry about these.
What is an IDBI Delight Point worth?
IDBI doesn't publish a rupee value on its Delight page. It has over 7,000 reward options, including recharges, movie tickets, hotels and flights. We assume ₹0.25 per point, so these estimates are approximate. Redeeming points is free on IDBI's own cards but costs ₹99 on the two LIC cards.
Will the Fairfax deal change my IDBI Bank credit card?
No change has been announced so far. The sale is still waiting for RBI and Competition Commission approvals, as far as we could confirm, and neither IDBI nor Fairfax has announced any change to card fees, rewards or points. Your card, limit and points stay as they are until IDBI tells you otherwise.
Is IDBI Bank a public or private sector bank?
The RBI classifies IDBI Bank as a private sector bank, with effect from 21 January 2019, when LIC completed its purchase of a 51% controlling stake. As of September 2025, LIC held 49.24% and the government 45.48%, so many sites still call it a government-owned bank.
Who can apply for an IDBI Bank credit card?
You must be an Indian resident aged 21 to 60, or up to 65 if you're self-employed, and add-on cardholders must be 18 or older. IDBI asks for identity, address and income proof such as an ITR, Form 16 or salary slips. IDBI hasn’t published income requirements, so approval is at their discretion.
Conclusion
If you already bank with IDBI, the Winnings is the card worth asking about, because 12 lounge visits a year for a fee you can waive at ₹7,500 a month is hard to find elsewhere. Check the fee on your offer letter, read the MITC for the categories that earn no points, and pair the card with a stronger rewards card if everyday returns matter to you.
