You may have picked the Axis Bank MY Zone card for ₹200 off a movie ticket and ₹120 off Swiggy. They really felt like free money on a card that costs almost nothing.

But a new change now asks for about ₹8,300 of spend a month on a card that earns roughly 0.4% back. The notices for the Axis SELECT and PRIVILEGE cards carry the same wording, so this is a bank-wide change and not a one-off.

So, should you still keep your My Zone card or switch?

TL;DR

  • Keep MY Zone if you pay no fee and order from Swiggy at least twice a month.
  • If you pay ₹500 + GST and keep the card mainly for movies, ask Axis to waive the fee or move to a card that earns more on the same spend.
  • The rest of this review shows the maths, so you can test it against your own statements.

Will you qualify for the movie offer?

Each month, Axis looks back over the three calendar months before you book. For a November booking, that means August, September and October. ₹25,000 across three months works out to about ₹8,300 a month.

The maths: Say you spent ₹6,000 in August, ₹9,000 in September and ₹12,000 in October. That is ₹27,000, so you qualify in November. Now say October was only ₹9,000. The total drops to ₹24,000, and you miss the offer by ₹1,000.

Because the check repeats every month, you need to stay above the line on a rolling basis.

The fine print, from Axis's own terms:

  • Only transactions settled during the preceding three calendar months count. Settlement can take up to 5 working days, so a purchase made on the last day of October may not be counted for November.
  • Payments towards interest, fees, charges, reversals, refunds and other bank dues do not count as spend.
  • For EMI purchases, only the instalment billed in that statement cycle counts, not the full price.
  • Spends are measured at account level, so an add-on card's spends count towards the same total.
  • New cards are exempt in the month they are issued and for the next 3 calendar months. An add-on card counts as a new card. An upgrade from another variant does not.

What MY Zone is really worth now

Swiggy is the one benefit that still holds up. Two ₹120 discounts a month come to ₹2,880 a year, with no spend condition. The movie offer adds up to ₹2,400 a year, but only while you stay above ₹25,000 on the rolling three-month check. Rewards are small. Spending ₹8,300 a month earns you only about 166 points, which is roughly ₹33.

So if you use both codes every month, the card's ceiling is about ₹5,300 a year before reward points. Against a ₹590 fee, that still works. If you order Swiggy once a month and miss the spend threshold, you get ₹120 × 12 = ₹1,440 a year.

Keep, downgrade or switch?

  • Keep it if it is lifetime free and you order Swiggy at least twice a month. It costs you nothing, and an older card adds to the age of your credit history.
  • Do not spend just to qualify for movies. Pushing ₹25,000 a quarter through a card that pays 0.4% to save ₹200 a month is a poor trade if another card earns more on the same spend.
  • There is nothing to downgrade to. MY Zone Easy is a separate card backed by a fixed deposit, meant for people new to credit. It isn’t a cheaper version of MY Zone.
  • Switch if you pay the fee and use neither offer. Look at Axis ACE if you pay utility bills, DTH or mobile recharges through Google Pay (it gives 5% cashback on those), or Airtel Axis if you are an Airtel customer (25% cashback on Airtel bills).
⚠️ Watch out: Rent and education payments made through third-party apps each carry a 1% fee. Monthly utility spends of ₹25,000 or more, wallet loads of ₹10,000 or more, online skill-based gaming of ₹10,000 or more, and fuel spends of ₹50,000 or more also carry that 1% fee. Apart from that, rent, education, utilities, wallet loads, gift cards, bridge fees, road fees, tolls and fuel earn no reward points.

If you’re applying fresh, use the official Axis application form while the nil-fee Visa offer is still showing. Axis lists the eligible age for the primary cardholder as 18 to 70, and residents of India and NRIs can apply.

FAQs about Axis Bank MY Zone card

Is the Axis MY Zone credit card lifetime free?

Not by default. The standard joining and annual fee is ₹500 plus GST, which comes to ₹590. As of 3 November 2026, Axis's product page shows nil joining and annual fees as a limited-period offer. If you already pay the fee, ask Axis for a waiver before you renew. Add-on cards are free.

What counts toward the ₹25,000 spend for the District movie offer?

Only settled purchases count. Interest, fees, charges, reversals and refunds do not count. For EMI purchases, only the instalment billed in that cycle counts. The ₹25,000 is measured across the three calendar months before you book, and these spends are counted at account level.

Are new MY Zone cards exempt from the spend condition?

Yes. The spend rule does not apply in the month your card is issued or for the three calendar months after that. Add-on cards are treated as newly issued and get the same exemption. Upgrading from another Axis card does not count as a new card, so an upgraded card has to meet the ₹25,000 condition straight away.

Does the Axis MY Zone card give airport lounge access?

Yes, but only one domestic lounge visit per calendar quarter, and only if you spent ₹50,000 on the card in the previous three months. That works out to about ₹16,700 a month. Most MY Zone users spend well below that, so treat lounge access as an occasional bonus.

What is the difference between DCC and forex markup on MY Zone?

Forex markup is charged when you pay in a foreign currency, and it is 3.5% on MY Zone. DCC, or dynamic currency conversion, is charged when you choose to pay in rupees at a foreign merchant or website. From 28 August 2026, Axis raised the DCC markup from 1.5% to 3.5%, so paying in rupees abroad no longer saves you anything on the markup.
