Scapia card has been popular with people who travel more than they shop. And if you've used the Scapia app to book a flight or a hotel, you know it offers straightforward rewards.

On 3 September 2026, this zero-fee travel card got another bank behind it. Axis Bank is the new partner of the Scapia credit card, along with Bank of Baroda and Federal Bank.

While the card itself is genuinely good, this new offering has a catch.

Two networks on one product is the reason Axis Bank Scapia Credit Card works as well as it does.

You get 10% at the till or online with the physical Mastercard variant, and 5% on UPI payments with the RuPay one, uncapped. That's a genuinely strong reward structure.

Put ₹15,000 a month through the Mastercard leg on everyday spending, and you'd earn about ₹1,500 a month, or ₹18,000 a year, in Scapia Coins – against a ₹0 fee.

Zero forex markup on top of that puts Scapia in a company it has no business being in.

The only two Axis cards with no forex markup are the Burgundy Private card and Axis Primus card. Both cards are invite-only, and neither is free the way Scapia is.

The catch: Axis Scapia isn't one card, but two

A thread on r/CreditCardsIndia flagged it first. They shared Axis's reply that this Dual-Line variant, Mastercard plus RuPay, "is treated as two distinct credit card accounts within our system, thereby occupying two credit card slots."

The card's own terms and conditions don't confirm this either way. It only mentions a spend threshold "in case of a single card," which hints a single-variant version might exist.

Also, Axis generally caps a customer at three credit cards total – one cashback-oriented card, two rewards-oriented.

So, approval for Scapia alone uses up both your rewards-oriented slots. Want Atlas, Magnus or any other Axis rewards card alongside it? You can't (unless you apply for that one first).

Our take

Get the Scapia Axis Bank Credit Card if travel is where most of your spending goes (and you don't already have, or plan to get, another Axis rewards card).

At zero fee, zero forex markup, and upto 10% rewards, there isn't a comparable free card in the market right now. That combination usually costs a five- or six-figure annual fee.

If you're actively building a multi-card Axis lineup, hold off, or apply for your other Axis card first. The dual-network design that makes Scapia work so well also leaves you with two taken slots.
